    It was sooooooooo beautiful swimming with these little guys this morning. It's been a bad summer for underwater because of the passing hurricanes, browning out the coastal waters with the rain they have been bringing. I haven't shot underwater in months because of it, but I was pretty keen to take a look this morning and was delightfully surprised to see so much sea life going. Numerous large schools of fish and quite a few Hawaiian sea turtles. These two were just hanging out, having a seaweed breakfast. They were totally cool with me being there too.     Jay Alders new Seazen Gallery opened today. I've known Jay since he officially became my very 1st social networking friend at Myspace all those years ago. i believe it was 2007 when I had first ventured into Myspace. Looking back, it was pretty cool actually. You could customize it to play your favourite music and you could arrange your page exactly how you wanted it to look. I haven't seen anything quite that cool since. Hope your opening was a massive success Jay.

    I'm holding my first big slide show at up at Bird's Surf Shed in San Diego on Friday, April the 3rd. It promises to be an entertaining evening with loads of epic and often historic moments of surfing from the past 30 years, particularly throughout the 90's I'm really looking forward to meeting many of the people who appreciate my art and it's going to be fun, sharing the many stories and quips that often accompany many of these pictures.     They say that dark blue is THE color to have in your bedroom, because it helps to promote a relaxed mind and as someone who makes my living by perceiving and photographing color, I'm very much inclined to agree. I photographed this on the 1st of two blood moons, last year. I didn't want just a picture of the moon though , it had to be more than that. I thought "well, I'm here in the tropics, what says tropics more than palm trees. The almost zero winds helped a lot with the time exposure, that was required to gather enough light into the frame to give a bit of color to the sky. The palm leaves remained still throughout the whole exposure.     Here's a cool image that I took of the early morning stars above a row of palm trees. It was kind of extra ordinary conditions in that there was no wind, (so the palms would stay still) and there was a very thin cresent moon, which makes the night stars a lot more visible.

    My photographer friend David Collier challenged me a few weeks back to post a black and white every day on Instagram for 5 days. Not only did I do this, I only posted black and whites that whole time.   I passed the challenge on to my Sydney photographer mate; Billy Morris and since then, it's just taken over. I've seen so many crew that I know doing the 5 day black and white challenge. I even saw Sean Davey from Australia doing it.  Yeah, he's a photographer in Canberra with the same name who's also made a bit of a name for himself in the photography world.  This is just a totally amazing moment of Bruce Irons at the 2002 Pipe Masters in beautiful bold black and white.
