The first trailer premiered during the Olympics Sunday night.

The United States' race to outer space against the then Soviet Union was one of the epic moments in American history. And while you know Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and the other male astronauts who got to go into space, did you know that there was a group of women behind the scenes calculating formulas to make sure the men went up and came back down safely.

Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer are set to portray mathematicians Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson and Dorothy Vaughan, who helped NASA make sure that those space shuttles make it out of the earth's atmosphere in Hidden Figures. Aside from being women in highly specialized roles in the '40s and '50s, the African-American "human computers" did it as the civil rights movement was coming off the ground.

The film also stars Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Jim Parsons. Hidden Figures hits theaters on January 13, 2017.
