Football may be back in LA, but Adele ain't coming to football anytime soon.

Sleep through the weekend? You missed a lot.

The United States had a fantastic run at the Olympic Games; however, problems are still plaguing Rio. A strange new video game made its debut and people are freaking out over it. Adele teased the idea of her performing at next year's Super Bowl, then quickly put an end to that. Oh, and Los Angeles is finally catching up in the world of sports. Here are a few things that you may have missed this weekend.

Olympic Highlights

The 2016 Olympic games have so far been nothing short of amazing. With the completion of the Men's 4x100-meter relay on Saturday, Michael Phelps secured not only another win for the US, but also what was to be his 28th and final medal. Following the awards ceremony, Phelps announced that he would never enter another Olympic swimming pool.

Simone Biles once again breathed life into the US Women's Gymnastics team. After winning gold medals on Thursday for both team and all-around finals, Biles entered the weekend ready to take on one of the hardest routines known to gymnasts on vault, the Amanar. Not only did she perform the routine perfectly, earning the highest score amongst her peers, but is also now known as one of the few people who can consistently perform and execute the difficult routine, and the first American woman to ever win gold on vault.

Unfortunately, the joy was overshadowed by reports of members the US Men's Swimming team being robbed at gun point early Sunday morning. According to reports, Ryan Lochte and three teammates were in a taxi following a late night out, when they were suddenly stopped by men brandishing badges and guns. The swimmers were instructed to lie on the ground, but Lochte refused, insisting that they had done nothing wrong.

That move almost cost him his life, as one of the cop impersonators then put a cocked handgun to Lochte's head, repeating the instructions once more. Lochte begrudgingly obliged, and then swimmers then had their wallets taken. The fake officers left them with their cell phones and credentials, though.

No Man's Sky

Video games aren't just fun, they're often meant to be thought-provoking. When it comes to action-adventure gaming, there are generally three important factors that go into each installment: storyline, graphics, and entertainment. Well, Hello Games just released one of the most intriguing games to date, No Man's Sky. Released just a few days ago, No Man's Sky has already begun making waves in the news and social media, as this isn't your typical character-based game.

In the game, players are free to explore a vast, uncharted universe, which contains over 18 quintillion planets, many of which have their own species of plants and wildlife. Upon discovery, the player is able to perform any of the four principles the game is founded on: exploration, combat, survival and trading. Everything in the game was created with algorithms; therefore, each planet, life form on the planet, and background music are randomly created based on action. In theory, no two players will have the same experience or outcome.

Although the gorgeous graphics and unique concept are inviting, many players take issue with the game. For all of its brilliance, the repetitiveness can seem daunting, even with all of the different things there are to discover and explore. Some users have even claimed to feel an uneasy sense of loneliness while playing, as they're (presumably) the only remaining human in a sea of alien planets. For all of it's oddities, No Man's Sky may be the way to go for those gamers looking to escape the stresses of the ordinary everyday and try out a virtual world that's conceptually different.

Adele x Super Bowl LI (51)

Earlier in the week, hearsay got the best of Adele and football fans alike as so-called news began to circulate that the U.K.-based singer was in talks to be the halftime performer at Super Bowl LI, taking place in February 2017. Just imagine shots of mid-game locker room pep talks, players stretching, and fans making their way to and from obnoxiously long concession lines, all set to a live mashup of "Set Fire to the Rain," "Rolling in the Deep" and "Hello." Queue all of the tears of memories of your first love.

As it turns out, the singer was approached and ask to take on the task of entertaining millions of viewers, both inside of the stadium and in front of televisions from the comforts of home. However, she politely declined. The announcement was made on Friday evening, during her final performance of an eight-night residency at Los Angeles' Staples Center. Her reason: "Come on, that show is not about music. And I don't really dance or anything like that. They were very kind. They did ask me, but I said no." Once again, Adele left her audience brokenhearted, but this time over sports.

Los Angeles Rams

History was made in Los Angeles this weekend. No, they still haven't found a way to deal with the water shortage or a way to lower sales tax while also increasing minimum wage, but the Rams played their exhibition football game against the Dallas Cowboys in their new home this weekend! Well, sort of new. This is a huge deal, as the city has not had a football team to call its own in over 20 years.

Following their 1945 victory at the NFL Championships, the Cleveland Rams headed west to California the very next year. Fast forward to 1982, the Oakland Raiders, fresh off of their win at Super Bowl XI, also decided to try their luck down in Los Angeles. The big town ultimately proved to be too small to house both teams, and after a few years of lackluster performances and the big Northridge earthquake damaging the Raiders' stadium, both teams relocated. The Rams ventured east to St. Louis and the Raiders back north to Oakland.

This weekend, the Rams stepped out onto the Coliseum astroturf, welcomed by thousands of adoring supporters. The game was close, but Los Angeles eventually took out Dallas, ending with a pre-season victory, 28-24. It's safe to say that this is one sport that has been missed, and if the football fans are anywhere near as diehard as those who support the Dodgers, then we're in for a fun and intense season.
