Makes sense, since 'Peter Pan' didn't have Mary J. Blige.
The Wiz scored NBC's highest ratings for a non-sports event in three years, according to TVLine. While it was edged out by NFL coverage for the highest ratings that night, The Wiz was watched by 34 percent more households than NBC's last attempt at a live musical, Peter Pan. The Wiz also scored high ratings among 18 to 49-year-olds, and for so many potential reasons: Uzo Aduba as Glinda the Good Witch, Mary J. Blige as the Wicked Witch of the West, 19-year-old breakout star Shanice Williams as Dorothy and Ne-Yo hitting the dab as the Tin Man.
