Paris, the spring of 1968. An illustrious example of what can happen when people come together and say "Enough is enough! We're not gonna stand idly by and turn into factory working debt-slaves in this oppressive system!" Something America and indeed the world could learn from.
Show moreHere's to you Sacco and Vanzetti. Taken from this world because your beliefs threatened the existence of the all-powerful terrorist known as the state. But the powers that be would never admit to that. So you were charged with murder and theft. And in the jury's eyes, your political beliefs and your Italian heritage overshadowed the unfounded evidence in the courtroom, and they sentenced you to death. But thankfully the world took note. From New York to Tokyo people protested your unfair trial and conviction. And though their voices couldn't save you from your death, I would argue that their voices did something better. They opened the world's eyes to the corruption and ineffectiveness of the judicial system under the state. Even today your case draws a parallel to that of Mumia Abu-Jamal, and in the past Alfred Dreyfus. And though your vision has not come into being just yet, our struggle still remains strong. Thanks in part to you.
