Die NYMONICS (gesprochen NEIMONNIKS) entstanden an einem kalten Herbstabend 1996. Die drei Bandmitglieder, die schon in verschiedensten Rock'n'Roll Formationen (darunter Juke and the Ducktails, Reeds, Dirty Doggies, Streetcorner Harmonyclub, Session Up, Straight to the Bar, Jiving Rascals ....) spielten, hatten die Idee, eine beliebte aber kaum verbreitete Art des 50er Jahre Rock'n'Roll für ihr Programm zu wählen: den DOO WOP! DOO WOP ist ein Mischung aus traditionellem Rock'n'Roll und Acapella.
