I was saddened and deeply upset today while looking the Facebook page for a friend that committed suicide three years ago. There were multiple comments on the page of strangers asking why she ended her life. Now, I don't know any of those people, but it astounds me that people would think that asking that question is okay to ask. No one knows why certain individuals chose to end their life. Anyone who has had someone close to them commit suicide will tell you that they have spent many sleepless nights trying to answer that same question. Some people have things like depression or bi polar disorder that tells them that there is no other way. Some people were going through things that they just can't bear to be apart of any more. For most, it is far more complicated than that and to simply ask someone why their loved one committed suicide brings back thoughts and memories that can be emotionally and physically damaging. So please, think twice before you posting something, even if you're just trying to be nice.

The supreme court struck down a federal provision denying benefits to legally married gay couples and issued a separate ruling that paves the way for same-sex marriages to resume in California.The victory means the federal government must recognize the marriages of gay and lesbian couples married in the 12 states that allow same-sex marriage, plus the District of Columbia, and give them the same benefits that they had been previously denied under the struck-down law, the Defense of Marriage Act.
