This song has a cool 2 chord progression of A - F. The C# in the A chord changes everything application wise. ....subtle alterations that yield profound results are a good thing. This song started with a very basic sketch from Robbie. Then Tim came up with the vocal melody and lyrics. I experimented with some inversions and arpeggios and came up with the final draft fairly quick....it seemed to gel nicely with Tim's voice. Quick songwriting is always a good thing :) This is one of Tim's favorite songs, and it shows in his performance. We recorded the song analog in a friend's garage. Just Tim, Robbie, and myself. No rhythm section. The overdubbed guitar melody in the beginning right before the vocals start was written and performed by me at the time of recording. We had phenomenal creative input from our producer friend. ...that's what a good producer does. The funny thing about that guitar part is that it could pass for a bass line too. The bass player was pissed initially. Had to convince him otherwise.
