The band will return with their fifth album this spring
Cage The Elephant have announced their new album, ‘Social Cues’, and shared the video for ‘Ready To Let Go’, the first single to be taken from it.
The band’s fifth studio album was produced by John Hill (Florence + The Machine, Santigold) and will be released on April 19, via Columbia. It follows 2015’s ‘Tell Me I’m Pretty’, which earned the group a Grammy for Best Rock Album.
Frontman Matt Shultz has directed the video for comeback single ‘Ready To Let Go’, which features the singer in a blood red latex bodysuit and, at other points, with rivers of blood streaming down his face from his eyes. You can watch the video below now.
The track listing for ‘Social Cues’ is as follows:
‘Broken Boy’
‘Social Cues’
‘Black Madonna’
‘Night Running’
‘Skin And Bones’
‘Ready To Let Go’
‘House Of Glass’
‘Love’s The Only Way’
‘The War Is Over’
‘Dance Dance’
‘What I’m Becoming’
‘Tokyo Smoke’
‘Goodbye’
Last year, the band confirmed the new record had been completed in a tweet. “Record done. Mixed. Mastered,” they wrote simply.
In between studio albums, the group released 2017 live album ‘Unpeeled’, which featured a selection of stripped-back versions of tracks from their back catalogue, as well as a number of covers. The album was recorded over a series of intimate shows in LA, Washington D.C., Knoxville, and Nashville.
The record featured a cover of Daft Punk and Julian Casablancas’ ‘Instant Crush’. The band shared a live video that saw them recreate the track on acoustic guitars and with string players.
Cage The Elephant will headline Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival on May 4. No UK dates have been confirmed at present.
