Vampire Weekend have signed a new record deal with Sony,
Back in May, the band said that their long-awaited fourth album was ‘94.5% done‘. Now, it looks like the wait may be over.
Having been signed to XL Recordings from the beginning, now Music Week has confirmed that their move to Sony is complete – with a ‘noteworthy project’ scheduled for release from the band before the end of ‘Q3’ (September 30).
After a five year wait since last album ‘Modern Vampires Of The City‘, the band has been performing a number of new tracks on their current comeback tour (as well as covering Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ with Danielle Haim).
It’s also been confirmed that Rostam Batmanglij will appear on the next record, despite quitting as a touring member.
Vampire Weekend return to the UK to headline End Of The Road Festival from August 30 – 2 September. Visit here for tickets and more information.
News on new material is expected to follow in the weeks ahead.
