'Electricity' will see the 'New Rules' singer working with Ronson and Diplo under their Silk City moniker
Mark Ronson has promised that ‘Electricity’, his forthcoming collaboration with Dua Lipa and Diplo, is “coming real soon”.
Ronson and Diplo have recruited Lipa for the new song, which is being released under the duo’s Silk City moniker. Further details about the track were revealed by Ronson in an interview last month.
“The song is a belter,” Ronson told The Times about ‘Electricity’. “Spiritual piano house music like they used to make… Lipa sounds imperious.” The producer added that Lipa “has this deep, soulful voice that harkens back to gospel house.”
Lipa further teased the release of the track on her Twitter in the early hours of this morning (August 2), writing: “Her name is Electricity… and you’ll meet her soon enough.”
Ronson followed that post up by writing: “Coming real soon.”
A release date for ‘Electricity’ has yet to be confirmed, however.
Silk City – who released a woozy video for their track ‘Only Can Get Better’ back in June – was formed by Ronson and Diplo earlier this year, and the pair will headline Bestival this weekend.
“Even though the style of music we do is quite different, there’s so much shared stuff that we do love – like classic house, disco and hip-hop,” Ronson told BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac about his partnership with Diplo. “So we just got in the studio sometime last year and started making some music.”
