It's the latest single from MIA's upcoming album 'AIM.'
For MIA's newest single, she teamed up with former One Directioner Zayn Malik for a "floaty" politically charged song called "Freedun."
After MIA begins with some signature rap flows, Malik mutedly sings the chorus ("All the stars are still shining / But you're the only one I see / I can feel when your heart beats, yeah / But you can't can't keep your eyes off me"). The two continue to trade off throughout the laid-back track before MIA finishes the song with some singing.
"It was always sort of like too mainstream sounding for me," explained MIA about the track on BBC Radio 1 (via Rolling Stone). "And it just seems like it's perfect to have that — if I was going to have a collaboration and have someone like Zayn, this is like the perfect song. You know, it sort of takes me out of my comfort zone, but kind of takes him out of his a little bit as well."
AIM comes out September 9.
