The man behind the beloved 'Star Wars' franchise saw the spin-off film last week.
Even though George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, the man behind the epic Star Wars franchise still has a hand in the projects — even if it's just approval. So with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story premiering in theaters in a few weeks, everyone, including Rogue One director Gareth Edwards, wanted to know what he would think of the intergalactic spin-off starring Felicity Jones and Diego Luna.
"Two days ago we got to show George the movie," Edwards told Sunday World, "and we all had a phone call and I got to speak with him yesterday, and I don't want to put words into his mouth, but I can honestly say that I can die happy now."
He added, "He really liked the movie. It meant a lot. To be honest, and no offense to anyone here, it was the most important review to me."
That's not to say that the director doesn't care about film critics' opinions, but George's was special.
"You know, you guys are important too, but he's kind of God," he said. "I will take that conversation to my grave. His opinion means the world to me."
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 15. Watch the trailer below.
