The Netflix special drops December 16.
Before Barack Obama became president, he was a Columbia University student nicknamed "Barry." That's the premise of the Netflix special of the same name starring Devon Terrell.
Set in the early '80s, Barry tells the tale of a young Obama "faced with questions about race, culture, and identity" as he develops his worldview (via Deadline). It's gotten rave reviews so far, scoring 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Barry is the story of a young man grappling with those same issues that his country, and arguably the world, are still coming to terms with 35 years later," says the official description of the film.
