The American Idol winner can still slay other artist's songs like it's 2002.
It's only been ten days since Kelly Clarkson hit the road for her Piece By Piece tour and she's already making waves with phenomenal live performances... of songs that aren't even her own. Clarkson has been covering fan-requested songs during every show on the road, reminding everyone why she won American Idol in 2002. So far she has paid tribute to a diverse range of artists from newcomer Tori Kelly to Imagine Dragons. Watch below as Clarkson makes Rihanna's heartbroken ballad "Stay" her own at Pittsburgh's First Niagara Pavilion, putting a new power behind the lyrics that might give you chills and make you miss your ex all at once.
And has fun with Nick Jonas' hit song "Jealous" in New York City's Radio City Music Hall.
And completely strips down Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J.
Clarkson first introduced the "fan request" segment on her 2012 headlining Stronger tour. “We’re gonna keep fan requests for as long as I’m touring," Clarkson told ABC Radio this year. "It’s honestly my favorite part of the show, just because one, it makes every show special and that’s hard to do this day and age ‘cause everything’s online right after you do it. So nobody knows what we’re gonna be doing that night.”
She has also introduced a brand new “Open Mic Night” segment, where fans who submitted videos are picked to perform on stage in front of thousands of people. The Piece By Piece tour will end Oct. 17, so check out if it's heading near you.
