Peter Berg isn't at all impressed
Caitlyn Jenner made her first public appearance since completing her gender transition at the ESPYs, to accept the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Peter Berg, director of Lone Survivor and producer of Friday Night Lights, slammed this decision.
Berg reposted a Main Stream Media Sponsor Boycott image of Jenner next to Army veteran Gregory Gadson, who appeared in Berg's Battleship. Its caption reads, "One Man traded 2 legs for the freedom of the other to trade 2 balls for 2 boobs. Guess which Man made the cover of Vanity Fair, was praised for his courage by President Obama and is to be honored with the ‘Arthur Ashe Courage Award’ by ESPN?”
Berg chimed in with just one word: "Yup."
Jenner gave a 10-minute acceptance speech about her journey, from being hailed as the world's greatest athlete and a male idea, to her private struggles with her gender assigned at birth. This was prefaced by a 15-minute film about Jenner's life, narrated by Jon Hamm. Watch below.
