Nihilo sanctum estne?
It's just the latest development in humanity's rush to ruin everything from your childhood: Today, Entertainment Tonight is reporting that director Amy Heckerling wants to turn her 1995 classic Clueless into a musical.
ET says that Heckerling has lined up a director (Kristin Hanggi of Rock of Ages) and a production team to introduce Cher, Dionne and friends to the live stage.
"I've written what they call the book, and it's a jukebox musical," she told Entertainment Tonight.
While Heckerling didn't say exactly what songs from the film's original soundtrack may be included (...what kind of Clueless musical would it be without "All By Myself"?), if any, but it seems like the musical has a pretty great selection to choose from.
The issue that Heckerling says they're having the most trouble with though? Casting—after all, how does one just replace Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Paul Rudd?
"Everything goes so slowly. I go, wow, this takes a lot. I thought movies took a long time," Heckerling explained. "It's hard to know with Broadway when things will happen."
