"Marriage is like a coffin and each kid is another nail."
It's been 27 seasons and Homer Simpson's almost-cheated a couple times (Lurleen, Mindy, etc.), accidentally married another woman, consistently makes terrible decisions, and has even endangered the entire city of Springfield by dumping pig waste into the lake (...which then led to the EPA to enclose the town in a glass dome), but what issue has finally come to be the wedge between Homer and Marge's long marriage?
Narcolepsy. Yeah.
“In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage,” Simpsons producer Al Jean told Variety. “Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from Girls.”
So. There's that to look forward to.
Also, Jean adds, there will be a Bart-centric parody episode based on 2014 Richard Linklater hit Boyhood and Homer'll be hitting the polls again as well—think he's Team Hillary?
“We’re definitely going to have Homer vote in 2016,” Jean shared. “One aspect of the pickup that made me happy is that Homer can vote again. He voted for Romney in 2012 because he invented Obamacare. He tried to voted for Obama in 2008 but all his votes went to McCain.”
