Well, that's a relief.
The next Fast & Furious film has finally found its director. Following rumors and reports of Universal struggling to find its Furious 8 director, Straight Outta Compton's F. Gary Gray has signed on to tackle the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Vin Diesel, who doesn't have final say but gets consulted on all Fast & Furious decisions, even posted a photo of him and F. Gary Gray sitting in front of images from the films.

"My producing partner Neal [Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled," Vin said on Facebook last week. Yesterday, Variety reported that the Furious 8 producers were debating between four directors: F. Gary Gray, Adam Winguard, Louis Letterrier and Will Eubank.
But with F. Gary Gray, Furious 8 gets a director who can clearly handle an action-packed blockbuster. Straight Outta Compton earned more than $150 million at the domestic box office alone, and to mostly positive reviews.
