Art (Artem) Bloch was a great jazz pianist and educator, who passed away too early in August 1996. This site is a tribute to a great artist, love of my life and a teacher who changed my music for ever. Art was born on October 7 1963 in Moscow. He started on piano when he was 3, after the discovery of his perfect pitch. By the time he was 18, he accomplished a very high level of virtuosity and musicality. His most notable performances in Moscow 1983-1989 were with the multi-reedman Sergey Letov. Art also became a virtuoso jazz improviser on soprano recorder! In 1989 Art immigrated to Israel where he worked with Boris Gammer Group live (Red Sea Jazz Festival) and in the studio (www.jazzis.com/records/discography.asp).Art moved to Holland in 1991 and worked throughout the country solo and with some re-known Dutch musicians. In 1992 he settled in Cologne, Germany and became a high-in-demand solo pianist and accompanist. He worked with Henning Gailing, Darren Beckett, Bernd Kroeger, Martel Beigang and others.
