Young: one who never stops growing and learning....
Pixel: a small but essential piece of a whole. Daniel & Tricia Turner created The Young Pixels in 2007, after the birth of their first son. Refusing to be crushed by their conditioned beliefs that family life meant the end to their dream of a creative life spent making music together, the duo birthed a new creative vehicle, crafting a raw, simple sound while moving equally between drums, electric guitar, and vocals. The result is an indie folk-rock sound that's both gritty and melodic. CBC Radio One Manitoba's Ismaila Alfa stated "they do rock like it should be done....simple, loud and full of life!". The pair's songwriting is introspective and honest, and tells the story of their challenges and lessons learned as they continue to live their music dream alongside the responsibility of raising two boys and farming organic grains in rural Manitoba. The Pixels tracks "Seriously" and "Spirit Free" have received radio-play on CBC Radio One Morning and Afternoon Drive programs across Canada. The duo's 2013 album For The Love went to #3 on the UMFM radio (University of Manitoba) charts last October, and received a 4-star review in University of Winnipeg's magazine, The Uniter. Since 2007, the pair have released two home-recorded albums (Here We Are, 2009), (Misunderstanding, 2010), as well as an EP (The Receptive, 2012) and their 2013 album (For The Love) both recorded with Garageland Studios in Brandon, Manitoba.
