Born Yesser Roshdi in November of 1986 in Amsterdam, Yes-R was a Dutch rap star who came to the art form through the influence of his cousin (and prominent Dutch rapper in his own right) Ali B. In 2003, Yes-R entered the professional ranks of Dutch rap when he signed a deal with fellow hip-hop star Lange Frans and his D-Men Entertainment Group.
Although he had some success with a few songs and won the Audience Award at the 2004 Grote Prijs van Nederland, it was not until Yes-R split from Lange Frans and D-Man that he entered into an arrangement with cousin Ali B. He followed the move with a hit single, "Leipe Mocro Flavor," and he soon began a lucrative career in both television and acting. Although he continued to record, his biggest successes to date were early in his career and included 2005's Mijn Pad and 2007's Zakenman. ~ Chris True
