Bassist and band leader of the Workingman's Bands Rick Maida has brought together local musicians in various contexts over the years to offer music "for the people and by the people.
"As amusic promoter, he organized many community concert series in Maynardand established jazz nights at two music venues.
As a performer, hismusical experience spans 40 years of involvement in the diversestyles of jazz, folk, rock and blues. Workingman's music combinesthe common elements of those genres into spontaneous unpretentiousmusical expressions accessible to all audiences. He aims to connectcreative musicians and listeners with good-time groovin'music that combines easy listening with lively entertainment with awide appeal.
Bassist RickMaida performed with the Grammy Award winning saxophonist CharlesNeville of the legendary Neville Brothers Band from New Orleans. Healso performed in the Boston area with the renown jazz pianist HarveyDiamond and vocalists Phyllis Fallon, Henri Smith, and Toni LynnWashington. The Workingman's Jazz Band repertoire includes classicswing, jazz standards, be-bop, blues, and improvised music.
