As a youngster, Keith Johnson was given the nickname "Wonderboy" due to his talent as a vocalist.
Early on, he was a member of the Spiritual Voices, a group put together by his father. Beginning with the Brooklyn native's debut album, Through the Storm (1998), Johnson -- usually joined in studio and on-stage by his Spiritual Voices brothers -- was a regular presence on Billboard's gospel albums chart, whether he recorded for Worldwide, Verity, or Central South. Throughout his discography, Johnson remained true to his traditional gospel inspirations, which included the Dixie Hummingbirds, the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Shirley Caesar, and the Hawkins Family. ~ Andy Kellman
