Woes, native to the West Coast, began hitting open mics and M.C. battles with inventive freestyle nearly
two decades ago. In 1997, he helped form the hip hop group B-Boy Genre. Within five years the group released a full length album, CD single, 12 inch vinyl, and opened up for such legendary artists as The Roots, J-Live, Abstract Tribe Unique, Phoenix Orion, Digital Underground, and Hieroglyphics.
After B-Boy Genre disbanded, Woes emerged as a solo artist, hitting the road with Vans Warped Tour as a solo freestyle MC in '00 and '01. From '00 to '02, he also picked up a weekly residency at LA's chapter of the world-renown drum and bass/hip hop club Koncrete Jungle (run by Alphapup's Daddy Kev) with LA legends Myka 9, Busdriver, DJ RAW, and graffiti artist Mear One. He also began performing solo sets, frequently opening for some of LA'a most iconic underground hip hop acts, Aceyalone, Medusa, Lyrics Born, Dead Prez and The Toledo Show, among others.
In 2006 Woes teamed up with world famous DJ 6Blocc (then known as R.AW.) to work on his first solo album, VERBAL BUILDING. Their chemistry was immediate. 6blocc DJ'd all of Woes' hip hop sets and in return Woes MC'd all of 6blocc's electronic/dubstep shows. In 2008 the duo hit Europe for their first of many international tours, and in 2009 released a collab album under the moniker TERMINUS.
TERMINUS was the first album to be released by Woes' Scale Step Productions, co-founded by Woes and business partner Trek in 2009. Woes' quick tongue chopping style and 6blocc's deadly turntablism continue to blow the minds of huge audiences around the world today.
Woes presently holds residencies at LA's Dub Club, Urban Underground, I Love LA and Abstract Rude's Flow and Tell (FAT). Fresh off his 2013 European run with 6blocc, he is currently preparing for the release of his second solo album, WOE IS ME.
