William Control is the darkwave solo venture of Seattle musician William Francis, who helmed the popular emo-goth band Aiden from their 2003 formation to their breakup in 2016.
Initially launched as a conceptual side project in 2008, Francis soon began to use the William Control moniker on a full-time basis, further developing his enigmatic horror punk persona over a series of albums that pulled from electronic, punk, goth, and industrial. Beginning with his conceptual 2008 debut, Hate Culture, Control fostered his dark image with subsequent albums like 2010's Noir, 2012's Silentium Amoris, and 2014's The Neuromancer. Adding to his diversity were a pair of acoustic albums titled Skeleton Key and Skeleton Key 2 as well as a remix album and two live releases. In 2016, he launched his ambitious fifth album, Revelations, a concept album split into four EPs, each named after one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (The Pale, The Black, The Red, The White). The first Revelations EP, The Pale, arrived in October 2016. ~ Timothy Monger
