It's true, I grew up in a musical family in LA, which made music part of my everyday life, much like having dinner or playing outside. What is most interesting is that I didn't start singing until I was around 17! I focused on piano, but I got my hands on a ton of other instruments and made as much noise as I could until I went off to college at Berklee in Boston. It wasn't so much following in anyone's footsteps, as it was me finding a place where it was still ok to want to be a rock star when you grew up. Since I could probably write you a song faster than I could write you a letter, those four years were amazingly helpful in teaching me how to better communicate through the way I felt most comfortable. While I was away at college, my parents loaded up the truck and moved OUT of Beverly, which had me spending my breaks in Nashville. Funny enough, it was the perfect place for me to find my footing after college. I got really involved with the local music scene, writing and performing with some of the best in the business. I even wrote a song on Heather Headley's album, "Audience of One," which won Grammys for "Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album," as well as "Best Traditional Gospel Album." The several years I spent there were a non-stop jam session and a great learning experience, which had me coming back often, even when I moved home to LA. As luck would have it, I made sure that rockin' enclave will always have a special pull for me, since I met my wife on a spur of the moment trip back to NashVegas (cue the swell of romantic music and release the doves).

Back in LA, life kept me busy as ever. Headed to the Middle East on a tour for the troops, was honored with a Hollywood Music Award, played piano on Michael Jackson's last album ever (R.I.P), and found out I was going to be a daddy. Needless to say, this scared the crap out me (like it would any sane human being), so I kept myself busy while waiting for her arrival by recording and performing with Billy Ray Cyrus, touring with Max Weinberg, writing and recording a song that found a home on the CW's "Heart of Dixie," as well as writing for and producing a ton of independent artists. Fun Fact: If you're ever in Disney's California Adventure and you listen like a hawk, you might hear my background vocals on a few tunes in "Cars Land."

Upon her arrival, the princess flipped my world upside down in more ways than one. The more time I spent with her made me realize that it was time to refocus on what was important to me and what I wanted out of life and my career. Although it was a surprise when I found myself getting amped up when Babies R Us had a sale on Pampers, I also had a new energy to rediscover myself as an artist. While I was on tour with Glenn Frey of The Eagles, I heard some pretty great stories of their wilder days, but I also heard how much they value their families, how that keeps them centered and gives them purpose. Putting words to a feeling, I decided that it was time to pursue my dream to make all of my daughter's come true.

So here we are. Through some interesting twists and turns, I auditioned for NBC's "The Voice." I'm not sure where this road will lead, but I do know that I'm excited for the journey. Tune in and see where it takes me!
