Chicago garage rock band Wet Paint released a couple of singles in 1966 and 1967 on small labels, three of the four songs being originals by lead singer and keyboardist Bill Giardini.
These were pretty routine, unremarkable tracks, the best of them probably being their debut single "Shame," with its insistent shuffle rhythm and blues-garage-pop flavor. In the late 1960s, some of the members formed the Stanley Moss Band, while a couple of others were briefly part of the bogus Zombies that toured the United States when "Time of the Season" became a smash after that great British group broke up. All four of the songs from the Wet Paint singles, as well as one previously unreleased track, appear on the compilation Just for Kicks Vol. 1. ~ Richie Unterberger
