Over 30 years, to be honest. One would be somewhat amazed at the groundbreaking evolutionary developments that I have witnessed in production over these years.

The first 6 years of experience was with my own company E.T.S. Inc. (The Event Transportation System). E.T.S.'s national headquarters was located in Dallas TX. Our most recognizable project was the co-production with Unison Corporation of the US Festival 83, which took place at Glenn Helen Region Park CA., on Memorial Day Weekend in 1983.

During the US Festival Production, as fate would have it, Roy Ericson, (Starflight), was sub contracted by E.T.S. to assist in the international exposure of what was to become the largest Rock Festival in history. My admiration and respect for Roy Ericson and his pioneering of the Tour Production Industry was truly catapulted to new heights of pride.

I was now working with an icon of an industry which evolved from his company, (Starflight), a company which gave birth to Tour Production in 1968.

In the fall of 1983 I joined Roy and moved to Los Angeles CA. to develop Cal Star Travel, Roy Ericson's new West Coast Division. Within a very short period of time Roy and his family moved to Studio City CA. and Cal Star Travel became the corporate base of all operations. Starlight remained as a satellite office in Manhattan NY. for the necessary and convenient coordination of European operations.

In 1985 Mr. Ericson and I sealed a partnership agreement and Cal Star/Starflight became the number 1 Tour Production Company in the world. Our client roster included such greats as: Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Yes, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant/ Jimmy Page, Prince, Liza Minnelli, Todd Rundgren, Tom Waits, Warren Zevon, The Eurhythmics, Simple Minds, The Scorpions, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Marylin Manson, The Marlboro Country Music Festival. and I was proud and truly blessed to be awarded the tour production of Lollapalooza 1991, 92, and 93.

By 1994, on the coattails of the Northridge Earthquake, Roy and I parted company. Roy and his family moved to Austin TX. and continued the operation that had since become a smaller industry as the Music Industry moved well into the 90's. What were always Stadium size tours were now selling in Arenas, Arenas in Theaters, and Theaters in Clubs. Sign of the times in a forever changing Industry.

I stayed in L.A. for about 10 months to fulfill a contract with Air Apparent & Rocket Cargo. Upon my completion of contract and the unfortunate end of my marriage, I also moved to Austin TX. My inspiration to relocate to Austin was not to join up with Roy however; it was to be at the one market, which promoted itself as the Live Music Capital of the World. More importantly the home of SXSW, the world’s largest Music conference.

Austin Texas was the birthplace of my Live Music Venue, The Voodoo Lounge. The Voodoo Lounge broke the mold of Live Music Clubs of Austin. Stepping outside the box of the traditional R&B genre that prevailed in the majority of the Austin Music Scene, The Voodoo Lounge filled a void of that very Scene.

The Voodoo Lounge hosted the largest stage of any club in the market. 55,000 Watts of sound on the house P.A., an addition 21,000 Watts on the stage monitor mix. A computerized "State of the Art" lighting system.

The Voodoo Lounge was strategically located just two short blocks south of Austin's famous 6th Street and right across the street from the Austin Convention Center, the home of SXSW. The unique underground music scene that my club offered was groundbreaking genres such as Hard Core Punk, Straight Edge Punk, Hard Metal, Death Metal, Sex Metal, Hip Hop, Techno Pop, Industrial, and Live Sex Shows which included Crash Worship, Lupricalia, and Flesh Fetish.

The Voodoo lounge also gained notoriety as one of the nation's premier showcase Venues debuting several acts from across the country year round and not just for SXSW.

Travis County TX. has a rather unique Liquor Licensing condition. It is considered under Texas law to by a "Dry" County. How that translates to a "Club" or a "Venue" environment is this: Should you choose to qualify and acquire a full bar license your facility now becomes Governed by the T.A.B.C., ( Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission ), who control and censor any lude or rude content of a performing act on your stage.

The alternative to having a Bar License in Travis County is B.Y.O.B., that's right, bring your own bottle to the show and our bar will serve you the "set ups" and you may experience your favorite act perform in their raw original form without the binds nor control of censorship hindering their original style.

The Voodoo Lounge ran a successful coarse for a little over 4 years and its stories of some the unique productions that performed there echo across the country to this day.

In 1998 I relocated to Montana on dare by a very close friend and colleague from England. Taking a complete sidestep from a self-directed career in the Music Industry. Within several short weeks I was a Sales Manager at a very large Chevrolet/Hummer Dealership. I spent almost 14 years with the dealership as Advertising Manager, Inventory Control Manager, Accessories Manager and GM's Partner Security Control Manager. I developed and opened an Advertising Agency for the Dealer Principle and I also laid the foundation and developed the Internet department for the dealership. Working in a creative capacity in such a strict corporate environment was truly an enriching experience. I feel truly blessed with so many tools of commerce that I have acquired through my career path.

In 2002 the Winter Olympic Games were awarded to Salt Lake City Utah. Chevrolet stepped up and purchased the Flagship Sponsorship for the International Event. Chevrolet's main market awareness benefit from this Olympic association was a marketing masterpiece co-designed by Campbell / Ewald Advertising Agency. The Olympic Torch Relay across the United States from its east coast port of entry all the way to the Olympic Stadium in Salt Lake City to ignite the caldron for the Opening Ceremonies.

The participating Chevrolet Dealers in this event dictated the coarse of the Torch across this great Nation. Billings MT. was the second to the last stop on the Torches coarse before arriving at its final destination in Utah. The International Event was the first of its kind to ever shine a spotlight on the City of Billings. The community embraced this opportunity and a dream transformed into reality on January 21st 2002 marking a calendar as one of proudest moments of my life, producing an event that placed an entire community on stage.

This incredible Journey will now plot a course of innovation and inspiration to complete a Mission of a Global proportions utilizing technology, communication, and artistry.

A letter to Jim Kerr.

To J.K..

This is Rob Walker, firstly I will apologize for this rather bold approach to relay a rather interesting piece of History with you. In my own little way of researching my heritage for so many years I finally arrived at this unique blog that I have created to piece it all together. The letter that follows this posting that ties some interesting lineage our past together. The Gartmore House is all but 40 kilometers due North of Glasgow. The Cunninghame Graham family are the Estates heirs and Robert Botine was my Great Grandfather.

Jim, I am hoping that you may see this post. In 1992 as Full Partner of Starflight/CalStar I was awarded the Tour Production of Simple Minds Real Life North American Tour. Throughout the eighties and nineties I produced countless concert tours, however Simple Minds-Real Life Tour has always remained under brighter spotlights within the memories of my accomplishments.

I actually greeted you upon your arrival at LAX and together we transferred to the Sunset Marquis Hotel in order to check in and prepare for your new Bride's arrival, Patsy Kensit. Ms. Kensit was arriving later in the day on a Qantas Flight. I still remember your first conversation with me when we settled into the limousine to transfer to the Hotel. "So,...Walker s your name." you said "You Scottish then?" I answered "Yes" of course but I didn't elaborate on my Heritage.

That was 21 years ago. Several days later we launched the Real Life North American Tour with an appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show. Of all the Tours that I have coordinated throughout that portion of my career I cherish the fond memories of our brief interaction. Your personality not only flows though the lyrics of your Music but to be in your company was to experience a genuine person who truly speaks from the heart. I would now like to take the time to elaborate on my Heritage for it intersects with your lineage in a way that could possibly complete a full circle with our connection 21 years ago. I am also known as Angel Hagalaz, a Spirit name that evolved from my Saxon heritage dating back to Circa 960. I am apparently a direct descendent of Robert the Bruce. The Saxon lineage connects in the following manner; Circa 10th Century on The Isle of Scilly located of the south eastern tip of the United Kingdom, Cornwall. In 995 Olaf Tryggvason became King Olaf I of Norway. Born c. 960, Olaf had raided various European cities and fought in several wars. In 986 he (supposedly) met a Christian seer on the Isles of Scilly. The Norse influence that flowed throughout the UK from King Olaf's landing in The Isle of Scilly would chronicle the history of the Norse lineage by the display of their 'Hammers' forged on swords and battle axes. These 'Hammers' were an ancient version of a family crest that portrayed their Nobel heritage. The Hammers left their marks in battles throughout the history of the UK. Here is a quote that I pulled from my research over the years; " A much more comfortable ancestry of Norman chronicles reveal much more. .... This particular phase of history found the Saxon influence considerably ..... Robert the Bruce of Scotland (Norman heritage) was a good example of the latter."

Your Surname originates from Normandy as well through the French settlement. Your name stems from the Old Norse kjrr. I also see that the 'Kerr Clan' speaks for an unusual amount of Left-handedness. Are you Left-handed ? A little known fact among the american population is that all but two U.S. Presidents have been Left -handed. It is somewhat typical of a foreigner to recognize those idiosyncrasies. Left-handed people are great negotiators they are also great fighters. They have always had to adapt to a predominantly Right-hand world. Lefties develop a rather unique way of thinking. They will always arrive at a conclusion to a problem but not always in the same manner. That, I believe, is true advantage and would justify the reasons for so many Leaders evolving from Left-handedness.

Your intuitive question of me so many years ago would mirror the likes of so many connections that have crossed my path throughout this amazing Journey. I am currently in Montana and have resided in the United States for 35 years and yet I am still a Canadian Citizen. I am really running away with this one sided conversation. I feel somewhat like Eric Idle in that old Monty Python sketch while suffering a speech impediment an observant bystander suggests he replace the letter 'C' with the letter 'K'. There is barely a year and a half difference in our age, after spending the majority of my adult life in America and being a member of this generation, I cannot help but recognize the overall absence of respect for one's lineage that is so typical of the average American. The unfortunate collateral damage that is fueled by this attitude is the evident absence of basic manners and values that have always laid the foundation of humanity. Another fellow Scott pointed this out to me many years ago. That would be, Rod Stewart, who I also had the pleasure to work with for several years.

Also, for your consideration; I am currently seeking work. I couldn't help but recognize your scheduled Concert performance for New Years Eve together with a European Tour kicking off a few short weeks after. I am experienced in every scope of production and would be happy to forward my current resume should you be interested. In 1994 I parted company with Roy and Starflight to move to Austin TX. If you have ever heard of the Live Music Club Venue; The Voodoo Lounge then you have heard of the Club that I built and operated for almost five years. Inspired by SXSW Annual Music Conference in Austin, The Voodoo Lounge was located across the street from the Austin Convention Center, headquarters to SXSW the Worlds Largest Music Conference Arena and just 2 short blocks from the heart of Austin's infamous 6th Street's entertainment Avenue. Over the years of its operation with the unique ability to promote the uncensored styles of underground and innovative Genres of new breaking Bands The Voodoo Lounge earned the recognition of this Country's premier Showcase Venue. Although the Cub has since closed echoes of some of its unique productions can be heard worldwide to this day.

Needless to say, I am very well versed in Tour Management. I have two failed marriages behind me, my children are grown and evidently there seems to be a distant calling for me to return to my heritage . That being said, I could be on a plane to assist with your group's needs in the drop of a hat.
