Born and raised in Graz, Austria, guitar virtuoso Ulrich Ellison came to the United States on a jazz scholarship in the early 2000s and settled in Austin, Texas, where he went on to become immersed in the legendary Texas electric blues scene.
A student of many styles and genres, Ellison incorporates elements of classical, heavy metal, Celtic, worldbeat, and progressive rock into his playing, resulting in what he calls "Viking Blues," which he performs with great regularity with his band the Tribe. He issued his debut long-player, Tales from the Kingdom Electric, in 2007, followed by Lose Yourself (2011), My Shoes Keep Walking Back to You (2013), and Synergy (2014). ~ James Christopher Monger
