Founded in early 1996 by Johnny Punish, Ben Madrid, Gary Henry, and Mike Henry, Twisted Nixon quickly evolved as a political rock band on the fringe of popular music.
In later years, all but lead singer and guitarist Punish left the group, as Richy Abboud took over on drums, Jake Skoor joined as the band's bassist, and Joe Allen joined as lyricist and co-vocalist. In 2004, the group released a startling single about the Iraq War. Entitled "Iraqi War," the song included excerpts of speeches by President George W. Bush. The equally scandalous "Saddam Don't Surf" quickly followed, as the band continued to use their music as a political platform. ~ Stephen Cramer
