The Tupa Ruja trio is formed by Martina Lupi, Fabio Gagliardi and Alessandro Chessa, and brings on an unique musical style, which blends Mediterranean flavored melodies composed and sung by Martina with the ethnic atmospheres produced by Fabio, who plays many instruments from all over, and notably the didjeridoo, an instrument born from Aboriginal Australian culture, and with the melodic sound of the guitar of AlessandroTupa Ruja trio constantly nurture their inspiration studying the roots of various traditions, both from their land and from different countries. The objective is to explore new musical expressions, searching affinity elements between cultures which developed differently only because they came out in different places and times.
Through the exploitation of these connections truly original combinations can be created. Speaking of roots, it comes easy to refer to the natural element that holds them, our Mother Earth. This is the first and most significant connection. It is the land where all roots, including cultural, are planted and continuously give life to everything, creating the world in which we all walk and live.
The Tupa Ruja are not just enjoyable to be listened to for their original proposal, they also are a true pleasure to be looked at. They enrich their live exhibitions with the addition of dynamic movements. Martina Lupi performs oriental and firework dancing, coupling lyrics and music with a catching choreography.
All these elements give form and body to the main idea, that there is only one sound that moves the whole: the sound of life that comes from our deep mutual roots. While we listen to what happens a little above the Earth’s surface, we only witness some parts of the same and unique sound.
