Born in 1979 in Bendell village in Kuruman, Boitumelo discovered his love for music at an early age.
It was while in class at Makgolokwe Middle School that he started attempting to write lyrics. After matriculating from Rekgaratlhile High School (then in Mothibistad) he went back to Bendell and started working with a DJ Group called Sound Masters. The year 2000 saw him leaving for Mafikeng where he toured Botswana with a band called Success Band as a vocalist. In 2002 he went to Johannesburg without knowing where he will sleep that night. After 6 months of hustling he got a job to work in Namibia for a construction company. The job didn’t last long but he’d already saved enough to pay for his studies at Mmabana Music Unit in Mafikeng. His hard work earned him a free attendance and registration to write exams with Trinity College of Music (London) just as his pockets were starting to run dry. He later undertook studies in Arts & Culture Administration, specialising with the Business of Music.

He has since completed his studies in 2005 and from there he started working as a tour manager for C-mon & Kypski, Voicst, Rootsrider, Lucky Fonz iii (Holland), Backstage (Slovenia), 4 Axid Butchers, Mojomatics (Italy) & Pernell Reichert (Canada) when they were touring South Africa. He worked for Roadshock (now Southern Pulse Booking Agency) as a tour producer and booking agent and among the artists he produced tours for are Backstage, Red Five Point Star (Slovenia), Lucky Fonz iii (Holland) and Evicted (Zimbabwe).

From 2009 to 2011 he headed Jazz & World Music Division with Southern Pulse Booking Agency and now representing Paul Hanmer, Louis Mhlanga, Ntando, Hotstix Mabuse, Elemotho (Namibia), Phinda, Allou April, Moloko Kgomo, Musa Manzini, Rethabile Brass Band, Jaz Rice (Moz), Hadar Noiberg (USA), Olufemi (Nigeria), Asanda Bam, Skipper Shabalala, and Tidal Waves.

Tumi Peter was a music judge at the NW Cultural Calabash for two consecutive years (2007 & 2008) and has also worked with Selaelo Selota (2008), Sam Mtukudzi (2009), Kunle Ayo (2010), and Gloria Bosman (2009-2010) representing them as a booking agent.

Today he is based in Kuruman and co-owns BakTu Musik which is a booking agency, artist management, record label among others. In a few months BakTu Musik had secured US based artists, Dorothy Leigh and Hadar Noiberg. Louis Mhlanga, Paul Hanmer, Gloria Bosman and Mlungisi Gegana are amongst SA starts in the books BakTu Musik. He frequents Jhb for his entertainment engagements…

BakTu Musik is a member of RiSA and AIRCO.
