Based in Brooklyn, True Primes are a duo consisting of Che Chen, editor of the music zine O Sirhan O Sirhan, which documents various aspects of the thriving New York underground scene, and Rolyn Hu, co-curator of the Glasslands Gallery located in Brooklyn's Williamsburg section.
They have been friends for more than a decade, and appear most frequently in the New York area, with Chen playing multiple instruments at one time and Hu performing, or sometimes just being there, and playing drums or other instruments. Both members of True Primes sing -- their collaboration is truly a balanced one, with neither artist appearing in the conventional role of "frontman." Their iconoclastic debut album, We Have Won, was released on Locust Music in January 2007, with a vinyl pressing following in April of that year. ~ Uncle Dave Lewis
