R&B artist Trevante is the son of Joe Halliburton, a member of mid-'90s Big Beat/Atlantic group Groove U. He started singing at a young age and, after relocating from his native Houston, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia, became part of Radio Disney's Incubator program.
Known then by the name Tre', he released a single, "Baby Girl," that spent 15 weeks on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and peaked at number 50. A few years later, he signed to the Imani label, where he released a handful of singles from 2011 through 2013: "Be My Girl," "Body Ody" (featuring Cash Out and Soulja Boy), "Be Your First," and "Bad Girl" (featuring Lil' Twist). They preceded his debut album, I Am Trevante. ~ Andy Kellman
