Tournament of Hearts don't believe in irony.
They believe in anthems: waves of A-minors crashing up against D-major resolutions and reverb-drenched snares bouncing off the walls of Hollywood guesthouses. These five formed in 2012 and recorded during after hours sessions with a like-minded engineer at Interscope Records, who believed in them and the big, deep drums of R & B rather than the lo-fi offerings of typical indie records. This collaboration resulted in the debut album Local Maximum, seven songs about starting fires, peeping toms, and throwaway lovers. Already armed with early shows at SXSW, the coming year will see the band tour the West coast, delivering live energy to songs already bursting at the seams.
