Toms first Album DIY Hi-Fi was released in April 2011.
The eleven-track collection of his self-penned songs, were recorded in his home studio or ‘spare bedroom’ as he puts it. All instruments, programming and vocals are by Tom apart from a two track lead guitar contribution from Chris Coupe, one of Tom’s oldest friends, who featured with him in 70`s Loughborough bands Argon and Albatross
As well as gigs with his bands, Tom could also be seen busking for charity in Loughborough Market Place and his solo appearances included the 1977 Frank Shoulder concert production for The Queens Silver Jubilee, over three nights at the Town Hall.
‘I started writing songs at the age of about ten and can’t seem to stop’, says Tom. Close shaves with fame, after an audition with Decca in the early 70`s and interest in his songs by EMI in the 80`s, left Tom with a feeling of unfinished business. ‘I so wanted to show people what I could do and this varied collection of my songs is an accumulation of many years work. Some songs even date back to the 70`s, the earliest being ‘Lonely’ which was first performed at a Youth Club concert at the Woodgate Baptist Church, which I believe is now a car park’.
‘The original idea was for me to record enough songs for an album and then put them out on a CD to give to family and close friends. The favourable feedback that I received from this encouraged me to make it publicly available for download. I recently became a Trustee for Age UK and all sale proceeds will be donated that charity’.
The Album was deleted from sale in October 2015. Huge thanks to all of you who purchased my songs or listened to them on Spotify. It earned £200 for my Charity Age UK Burton.
New songs are now being recorded, stay tuned for future releases.
