From a rock and funk background, he then moved on to study jazz and later dedicated his time to flamenco guitar. Over 20 years of performing, he developed a very unique style blending highly technical skills and spirited melodies. He continues to compose music inspired by his numerous encounters around the world and tinged with funk grooves.

Born in England and raised in Australia, Toby performed and recorded with various bands (Phoebus, Glockenspiel, La Rumba) throughout the country and overseas notably with (Shenzo’s Electric Stunt Orchestra). In 2005, he went on to study the art of flamenco guitar in Spain, Jerez de la Frontera. This was a major turning point in his playing and compositional style. His style is based strongly in melodic content with improvisation playing a big part.



Toby is also solicited for his graphic design artwork. He has created the CD covers and posters of numerous bands.
