Titles' diverse, pop-based indie rock took root in 2004, when guitarist Brad Amorosino left his former rock band in Connecticut and launched a solo project.
Drummer John Miller soon climbed aboard, and the duo recorded a self-titled debut with help from bassist Adrian van de Graaff. The album was released in September 2006 on Connecticut's own Welcome Home Records, and when Matt Wilson subsequently joined the lineup on guitar and pedal steel, Titles decided to throw out their old material and start from scratch. Moving into a house on the New Haven shore in early 2007, the group began writing material for a second full-length album. Greg Giorgio (who previously engineered the National's Boxer) lent his help to the project, and Up with the Sun arrived in July 2008 on New Haven's Safety Meeting Records. ~ Andrew Leahey
