Influenced by the Bar-Kays, Thomas Bucknasty was an obscure East Coast funk unit that recorded in New York and Philadelphia in the early '80s.
The forceful, aggressive band signed with RCA in 1980 and their debut album, Blast-O-Funk, was produced by T. Life. The album received very little attention and Thomas Bucknasty broke up without ever recording a second album. Members of the outfit included lead singers Thomas McNeil and Lawrence Newton, lead guitarist Michael "Skeets" Davis, rhythm guitarist Clayton Johnson, bassist Bobby "Silver" Byrd, saxman/percussionist Michael Saunders, and drummer Chuck Lee. ~ Alex Henderson
