"Holy Water is one of those bands that will make you scratch your head and think 'how were they not huge?'" says Derric Miller at hardrockhaven.
Members and sidemen of Doro Pesch, Quiet Riot, Widowmaker, Saraya, Prong and Foreigner banded together under the moniker HOLY WATER in the early 90's to create music with all the promise of a true rock and roll classic: Hooks and melodies galore, monster guitar riffs, a bone crushing rhythm section and just enough keyboards and harmony vocals to bridge the gap between 80's pomp and 90's power. In 1992, the definitive incarnation of HOLY WATER included David Knight (vocals), Thomas Jude (guitar), Freddy Villano (bass) and Chuck Bonfante (drums) with former Foreigner member Al Greenwood producing and playing keyboards.
Remastered by Patrick Klein (The Lizards) with artwork by Cosmocto, THE COLLECTED SESSIONS (Perris) is a never-before-released "archive" chronicling HOLY WATER's mercurial career. The nine-song CD opens with The Green Machine Sessions, a stellar, three-song set featuring the brilliantly crafted AOR-ready single "I'm Not Worried Anymore." Produced in the early 90's by Al Greenwood, these three songs have been ranked among the classics of melodic rock by industry insiders. Here's what people are saying about HOLY WATER and THE COLLECTED SESSIONS:
"The song that easily could have catapulted them into Top 10 status is "'I'm Not Worried Anymore.'" Derric Miller @ hardrockhaven.net
"Damn near every song here could've fit on the radio..." Tim Wadzinski @ Detritus e-zine
"…the sublime 'I'm Not Worried Anymore' should have made them huge." Dave Ling @ Classic Rock Magazine
"A slice of radio-friendly rock, it is somewhat remiss that the opener 'I'm Not Worried Anymore' has so far escaped wider attention." David Randall @ getreadytorock.com
"…the band should have been household names. At their best Holy Water is THAT good." Skid @ sleazeroxx.com
THE COLLECTED SESSIONS also features demos from the Studio 1212 Sessions, The Grand Slam Sessions and The Mask Sessions as well as two newly recorded songs, dubbed The Perris Sessions. Joining Knight, Jude and Villano on these latter tracks are drummer Bobby Marks and keyboardist Jay Davidson.
