None were strangers to the Motor City music scene -- Lewis had issued a solo LP earlier that year, while Brown and Walker were members of the electronic music outfit 19.5 Collective. As Twilight Babies, the trio flitted freely between trip-hop texture and dream pop fuzz, mixing electronic soundscapes with extensive guitar work and Lewis' lush, soulful vocals. The trio's eponymous debut was issued in August 2002 to considerable local acclaim, and was supported by a round of live performances; the Middle of Something LP appeared a little over a year later. ~ Johnny Loftus
