The Tie That Binds began in 1993 under their original moniker of Badger.
Based out of Houston, TX, Abridged Records debuted the band's sound of melodic hardcore and indie undertones on the 1994 split EP with fellow Texans Blueprint. Following a U.S. tour and their 1995 EP, Unhappy Life, Badger discover that there was already a '70s supergroup (featuring members of Kiss no less) with the same name. After changing their name to the Tie That Binds, One Foot Records released the band's first full-length, Slowly Sinking Under, in 1997. Brief tours with Kerosene 454, Jimmy Eat World, and Boy Sets Fire eventually followed. ~ Mike DaRonco
