Another in the seemingly unending line of fine power pop bands from North Carolina, The Saving Graces are the brainchild of singer, songwriter and guitarist Michael Slawter.
Slawter first gained recognition as a member of Neidermeyer, an upbeat pop group whose 2001 album For Those About To Pop won enthusiastic reviews in the Southern music press. However, Slawter and fellow songwriter and guitarist Arthur Gormley found themselves following different musical directions, and Slawter formed The Saving Graces in the summer of 2002 to pursue a more melodic pop approach. Teaming with bassist Drew Jenkins and drummer John Holoman, Slawter and The Saving Graces released a debut EP, These Stars Are For You, on the Paisley Pop Records label in 2003. ~ Mark Deming
