Formed in 1984, Welland, Ontario's Roxx impressively imitated the loudest and best aspects of heavy metal icons KISS and Metallica to achieve their own hybrid hard rock sound.
Extensive touring throughout Southern Ontario culminated in 1990 with an independent release, Breaking New Ground. 1995 was the year this trio created their own label, Meehan Music, and released Alternative Union, a compilation disc showcasing 11 additional area bands who, like Roxx, were as yet unsigned. Before settling down to record Deranged in 1999, they endured personnel changes and released Night of the Living Dead under the temporary name Redrum. With Ken Edie on lead guitar, Dean Meehan on vocals and bass, and Wayne Meehan supplying the drumbeats, Roxx was finally ready to make an impact and, hopefully, get a major record deal. ~ Roxanne Blanford
