Featuring Aminata "Amina" and Safietou "Jazz" Schmahl, Black Buddafly are an R&B group that landed in Los Angeles, but launched their career in Germany under the name of Choyce.
The sisters -- of Senegalese and German descent -- were in their teens when Choyce signed a contract with Germany's RCA, and with older sister Sophie in the group, they were originally a trio. The name change came in the early 2000s, and their debut Def Jam single, "Rock-A-Bye," was released in 2005. A year later, the label released the "Bad Girl" single featuring rapper Fabolous, then the departure of Sophie made them a duo, although there would be no new official releases from the group. The mixtape compilation Worst Of.... Black Buddafly: The Forgotten MP3s arrived in 2011, and in 2013, Amina joined the cast of VH1's television series Love and Hip-Hop before launching a solo career. ~ David Jeffries
