A pop band formed in 2001 in Jogja.
By now they've released 5 studio albums. They also released a comic called 'Komik Cihuy Anak Band' in 2010.

It all began in late 90s in Jogja. Iwan Tanda (guitar) started a band called No Rain, named after a Blind Melon's song. Indra Prasta (vocals, guitar) joined the group a few months later, right after knowing that Iwan was a fan of Gin Blossoms just like he was. There were 3 other members of the band. A year later, Aang Anggoro (drums) and Ipul Bahri (bass) replaced the 3 former members. On December 31st 2001, they got a pretty huge gig at the valley of UGM, a National University in Jogja, where they introduced themselves as The Rain for the first time, and yes, it rained during the show, a show they'll never forget.

They played many local gigs for a couple of years, collecting money to make demos for a record deal, a record deal they wouldn't get until 2003 when they signed a 3-album contract with Prosound Records.

The Rain's 1st album was HUJAN KALI INI, released in September 2003 by Prosound Records with hits like Jangan Pergi, Dengar Bisikku, Terimakasih Karena Kau Mencintaiku. The album went gold, the band started playing all over the nation, meeting new friends, new fans, new experience.

By the end of 2004, they've written 35 new songs for their sophomore album, SENANDUNG KALA HUJAN. The album was released in October 2005 by with hits like Tolong Aku, Bulan Sabit & Kau Buat Aku Menunggu.

Their 3rd album, SERENADE, was released in May 2007 by Prosound Records/Trinity Optima Production with hits like Terlalu Indah and Dan Biar Esok Menjadi Misteri. The album received many good reviews by the media. An album with more uplifting songs, despite the fact that those uplifting songs were never released as singles.

In 2008, they started recording some new songs. By June, they've recorded about 20 new songs. They signed a new record deal with Nagaswara Record. The 4th album, PERJALANAN TAK TERGANTIKAN, contains more colorful songs. 'Untuk Sahabatmu" sounds very beatlesque, 'Warna Hidup' brings back the memories of 90s power pop, 'Psychedelic Rain' talks about death and sounds like a tribute to Radiohead, The Beatles, Oasis and Hendrix all played in one song. The album was released in January 2009.

A year later, after celebrating their 8th anniversary, Indra & Aang wrote Komik Cihuy Anak Band, a comedy comic about bands & music industry in Indonesia. Published in June 2010.

On January 2011, they released a single, Bermain Dengan Hatiku, a very gloomy one, followed by a 40-spot-tour, a long tour that delayed the production of the fifth album.

Released in March 2012, the long-awaited fifth album, Jingga Senja dan Deru Hujan, marked a decade of The Rain's journey.

In November 2013, the band announced a collaboration with Endank Soekamti, a melodic punk band, in a single called Terlatih Patah Hati. The single became a huge hit. Topping the charts on over a hundred radio stations all across Indonesia and nominated in Anugerah Musik Indonesia 2014, the biggest annual music award in Indonesia. The boys are back!
