The Ox-Bow Incident were formed in 1964 after watching The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show.
The original members were George Napolitano, Fred DeRubeis, Jerry Scotti, Dominic Copolla, Joe Sirico and Joe Liotta. Everyone was taught the basics by Pete Frias. Pete even picked what instrument each one of us should learn. Our big break came after a chance meeting with Bob Herin. Bob got us to play at the "Murray The K" show at the Brooklyn Fox Theater. The same day as our performance at the Brooklyn Fox and still riding a high by performing in front of our largest crowd to date, the group auditioned for the chance to be the house band for the WMCA Good Guys. Needless to say we aced the audition and then began to play every weekend on all of the shows booked by Jack Spector, Dean Anthony and the rest of the WMCA Good Guys. At those show we backed up such legendary performers as Chubby Checker, Neil Sedaka, The Chiffons,, Jimmy Jones, Lenny Welch, JJ Jackson, The Shangra-Las, and numerous others stars. We even performed as "The Shondels" at Mt.Vernon Memorial Stadium for Tommy James.

In 1966 we signed with Billy and Steve Jerome and our first record "Reach Out" was released in 1968 on the Smash label. The lead singer on Reach Out was Billy Sheehan. Unfortunately after the record release, Billy was drafted into the Army and a new lead singer was brought on board. The follow up to "Reach Out was "You Can't Make Love By Yourself" and it was sung by Bino Tessitore and Louie "Lurch" Pagan. The flip side "She's Gone" was an original composition and it was performed by Bino Tessitore and written by George Napolitano and Fred DeRubeis. In 1970 the band splintered apart for a short time and George Napolitano and Joe Sirico then recorded a 3rd single under the "Ox-Bow Incident" name for Avco Embassay. Within 3 months, George and Joe reunited with original members Fred DeRubeis, Dom Copolla, and Albino Tessitore and added Bill Turner and continued to play and tour around New York as well as on cruises aboard The Italian Lines for the next several years. In the 80's with the 25 year anniversary approaching, all of the original members reunited for a reunion show in Highland Lakes, New Jersey. After that the members continued to keep in touch and would get together in the 90's and 2000's for an occasional jam and recording session. The original members even recorded a CD "50 Years In The Making" in 2014, 50 years after first putting the group together. Today all of the original members are still friends and hopefully there will be another reunion soon. We would like to thank Pete Frias for taking the time for teaching each one of us and putting the band together. Without his input, dedication and support the Creations/ Ox-Bow Incident would never have existed. We also have to thank George's Mom and Dad for putting up with all the racket, noise and even sometimes music that reverberated from the basement during our twice weekly practices in the basement of the house on 65th Street in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks for the memories.
