The Orange Opera's whimsical power pop is largely created by singer/songwriter Kevin Hambrick, who founded the band while maintaining a concurrent solo career in the early 2000s.
Hailing from Ft. Wayne, IN, the quartet funneled an appreciation for E.L.O., Badfinger, and the Beatles into a slightly more contemporary context, replete with lyrics about ice cream stores and football games. The combination helped earn the Orange Opera a regional following, and the four bandmates -- bassist Bryan Brubaker, guitarist Michael Ostermeyer, drummer Kevin Hockaday, and multi-instrumentalist Hambrick -- supported their craft with a handful of self-financed releases, including the 2008 effort Ant Muscle. ~ Andrew Leahey
