When they assembled in Minneapolis in the fall of 2003 to record their eponymous debut album, the Mighty Nimbus convened quite the collection of American sludge/doom/stoner rock specialists: former Sixty Watt Shaman members Dan Soren (vocals) and "Minnesota" Pete Campbell (guitar), ex-Electric Chair Horror bassist Dinis de Carvalho, ex-Chaos Witch drummer Andy Campbell, and possibly most important of all, ever-inspired Alabama Thunderpussy guitarist Erik Larson.
The first and last of these decided to resume their other pursuits shortly after concluding work on the LP, which was issued to great acclaim the following year by Candlelight Records, but vocalist Alex "The Yeti" Petrovic was soon tapped to fill the void and Larson too was coaxed back long enough to join the Mighty Nimbus on a subsequent American tour in support of Entombed, Crowbar, and Pro-Pain. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
